Abta is marking National Careers Week (March 2-9) with the launch of a multi-media presentation toolkit to help its members inspire people to consider careers in the travel industry.
The first such initiative from Abta, it was created in response to feedback showing how members want to give talks in schools and colleges but don’t have the time to build presentations from scratch that have an overview of the industry.
This new resource aims to help them by providing a framework presentation into which members can plug their own company and career information.
It provides an insight into the UK outbound travel industry, reasons to work in travel, career ideas and helpful resources for students to continue exploring entry points, including apprenticeships.

The toolkit also explains what Abta is and what its members do, as well as additional travel advice from the FCDO’s Travel Aware campaign, specifically on topical issues relevant to young adult travellers.
The new guidance forms part of Abta’s wider drive to inspire the next generation to #bepartoftravel.
Vicki Wolf, Abta’s head of education and career development, said: “We want everyone to be afforded the chance to be inspired to be part of travel and understand why it’s such a rewarding career.
“This new presentation pack aims to save our members time when preparing to speak at their local schools and colleges as we know how positively young people react when they hear from inspiring travel professionals.”
The toolkit and guidance on its use are available in the abta.com member zone.
