Former Travel Republic marketing director Kate Staniforth has joined Thomas Cook after being made redundant.
She has taken on the role as head of marketing for the OTA following the planned closure of Travel Republic and Netflights as part of a strategic review by owner dnata Travel Group UK.
Spanish OTA Destinia subsequently acquired both brands in January.
Staniforth will lead brand, social media, PR and organic content, with a focus on growing both Thomas Cook’s market share and "share of voice in a competitive travel landscape".
Posting on LinkedIn, she said: “I’m very happy to announce that I have joined Thomas Cook as their head of marketing
“Earlier this year came with an unexpected reset after being made redundant - but it also gave me time to reflect on what I really wanted from my next role…still within travel of course.
“So, I’m thrilled to be joining this legacy brand with huge opportunity and an amazing team.
“A big thank you to everyone who reached out, supported, and shared advice over the past few months - it was genuinely appreciated and made a difference from what can be a daily rollercoaster of emotions.”
Staniforth was previously head of marketing at Travelopia.
