Scenic submersible set to debut in Oceania region

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours will take delivery of its new submersible for Scenic Eclipse II on Wednesday (March 13).

Called Scenic Neptune II, the submersible will feature on the yacht’s itineraries in the South Pacific, Great Barrier Reef and East Antarctica in 2024 and 2025.

The delivery follows successful sea trials and safety certification for the new Triton 660/9 AVA submersible.

Jason Flesher, Scenic director of Discovery operations, said: “Our collaboration with Triton Submarines on the custom design of our new submersible reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and leading the way in ultra-luxury yacht cruising.”

Scenic Neptune II offers 270-degree panoramic views and can dive up to 100 metres below the surface.

“The clarity of the acrylic hull once submerged is such that you feel at one with the water,” said Flesher.

“Encountering the vibrant marine life of the South Pacific and Australia’s Great Barrier Reef within Scenic Neptune II will create memories to last a lifetime.”

Scenic Eclipse II’s inaugural season in the Oceania region commences on March 13 with its voyage from Valparaiso across the Pacific.

The ultra-luxury Discovery Yacht will arrive in Australia, where Scenic was founded, for the first time on April 20.
