Select World Travel recruits its first homeworker

Dorset agency Select World Travel has recruited its first homeworker.

Owner Hannah Vincent (pictured) has hired Katherine Scott as its first remote member of staff, based in North Yorkshire. The two met on a fam trip several years ago, and Vincent said she knew Scott was a “perfect fit” for her business.

Scott has worked for independent agencies for more than 25 years, focusing on luxury for the past 15 years. She has worked for Traveltalk in Harrogate and was manager of Ventur Luxury Travel, also in Harrogate.

Select World Travel is offering a “good full-time basic salary” plus the same commission as full-time consultants in the office in Canford Cliffs (Dorset).

Asked why the business was now expanding into homeworking, Vincent said: “It was more of a case that Katherine is the right person and the timing worked. After a record-breaking year, I felt confident that I could offer Katherine this opportunity.

“Katherine has the same work ethic, is hard working, driven and puts 100% in delivering exceptional customer service.

“With many years’ experience, particular in the luxury sector, she is the perfect addition to our Select World Travel team.”

Vincent said she was in no rush to grow a homeworking business but would consider expansion if the “right person comes along”.

She said she believed the move would “grow and increase revenues and profits”, as well as help to grow recognition of the Select World Travel brand and profile around the country as more private travel consultants are introduced.

Talking about her new role, Scott said: “When I began looking at fresh opportunities in the industry, I saw Select World Travel as a mirror image of the business ethos and service levels I pride myself on delivering. Their model is the ideal set-up for my clients.

“The benefit of stepping away from management and working privately for Select World Travel enables me to focus solely on my clients and their individual needs.

“Having like-minded colleagues and working for a company with integrity is extremely important to me.

“Their systems are easy to use, and having their ATOL now gives me even greater flexibility. I feel very fortunate to have such tremendous support around me but working within a model that allows me freedom to build up my own client base independently.”
