1. Grand Egyptian Museum, Giza

With a grand opening timed to coincide with the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamun’s Tomb, the Grand Egyptian Museum’s debut later this year is one of the key cultural highlights of 2022.

A vast treasure trove of astonishing antiquities and artefacts spanning thousands of years and revealing the mysteries of ancient Egypt, the museum will be the centrepiece in Giza’s collection of must-see marvels.

2. Istanbul Museum of Modern Art

Designed by renowned architect Renzo Piano, this new state-of-the-art museum in Turkey gives culture vultures the perfect excuse to venture to the vibrant city of Istanbul this year.

Situated on the same stretch of waterfront in Karaköy where the original gallery stood for more than 20 years, the new incarnation, due to open in May, will be a world-class arts space featuring exhibition halls, educational workshops, a cinema, library, design shop and event spaces.

3. National Museum of Norway, Oslo

The National Museum of Norway will be Scandinavia’s biggest arts hub when it opens in June. Featuring a huge exhibition hall at the top, it will house the collections of the former National Gallery, Museum of Contemporary Art and Norwegian Museum of Decorative Arts and Design under one roof, including showstopping paintings such as Munch’s Madonna and The Scream.

4. Museum of the Future, Dubai

The eye-catching Museum of the Future made its debut this February in a prominent spot beside Dubai’s Sheikh Zayed superhighway. Interactive exhibits explore the future by showcasing next-generation science, innovation and technology in the spheres of space travel, living, health, climate change and ecology.

Each floor of the museum is designed to resemble a movie set, brought to life by expert storytellers and visionary artists.

A new experiential museum celebrating New York’s famous Broadway shows is set to open this summer in Times Square.
