Increased Christmas passenger traffic using the Le Shuttle Channel Tunnel service helped boost numbers for operator Eurotunnel.
The number of vehicles using the passenger shuttle service in December rose by 6% year-on-year to 232,164.
This helped push annual carryings up by 2% to more than 2.6 million over 2015.
The December figures confirm an upward trend seen over the previous three months, according to Eurotunnel.
The numbers were issued today ahead of the Channel Tunnel operator publishing its revenues for 2016 on January 24.
Traffic figures for January are due to be released on February 13.
