Heathrow travel hit by London tube strike

Travellers using Heathrow are being urged to use alternative routes due to a 24-hour strike on the London Underground.

The airport warned that Piccadilly Line trains will only run between Hammersmith and Terminals 1 and 2 but not Terminals 4 and 5.

“If you’re travelling to or from Heathrow during this period, please use alternative routes and leave additional time for your journey,” the airport said.

Heathrow Express, Connect and local us and coach services are due to be running as normal but are likely to be busier than usual due to the walkout by Tube staff from 6pm last night.

Transport for London said the majority of stations in the central Zone 1 part of the Underground network are closed today due to the strike by station staff.

There are also no Underground services from key interchanges such as Victoria, King’s Cross, St Pancras, Waterloo, Paddington, Euston, Bank and London Bridge.

An additional 150 buses have been deployed on certain routes during the strike but these are expected to be very busy.
