Willie Stewart joins RailTourGuide board

Scottish travel veteran Willie Stewart is joining rail services provider RailTour Guide to assist with further expansion of the business.

The Stewart Travel Centres and Scotland’s Cruise Centre founder is joining the board of the independent rail supplier as it plans to double its turnover in the travel industry.

Stewart, a former president of the Scottish Passenger Agents Association and chairman of the Advantage consortium, will help RailTourGuide through a strategic five-year plan to become the number one choice of the travel sector for supply of rail products.

One of the objectives is to raise the company’s profile in the business travel arena.

Formed in 2010, the company now claims revenue in seven figures and supplies many high street and online travel agencies with rail travel from companies such as DB, Trenitalia, Amtrak and Via Rail.

Owner and sales director, David Glover, said: “Our business has continued to grow as we have stayed with our plan and philosophy from day one.

“Willie is coming on board to help us diversify and expand into new markets, as well as bringing with him a wealth of contacts and valuable industry knowledge.

“His insight, and understanding of our business, will be paramount as he helps us grow further and achieve our business goals.”

Stewart added: “RailTourGuide are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the future growth of rail travel.

“They are already established as a leading supplier of rail tickets to the trade. RailTourGuide supply some of the biggest names in wholesaling, tour operating and retail travel and I am delighted to be joining David Glover and his team at this exciting stage in their upward growth.”
