Jet2.com’s Stansted destinations go on sale

More than 250 new jobs will be created with Jet2.com and Jet2holidays starting a network of low-cost leisure services from Stansted next summer.

Vacancies cover flight and cabin crew, engineers and ground operations staff.

The airline has put 21 destinations on sale and will be the only carrier to fly to Madeira from the Essex airport – a major hub for Ryanair – with two flights a week.

Jet2holidays is expanding its trade team with the appointment of a sales executive who will be dedicated to Stansted to support agents in the region. Trade booking account for a third of all business for the operator.

The network from the group’s ninth UK base covers Lanzarote, Malaga, Alicante, Dubrovnik, Faro, Madeira, Fuerteventura, Girona, Crete (Heraklion), Ibiza, Kos, Larnaca, Gran Canaria, Menorca, Paphos, Majorca, Pula, Reus, Rhodes, Tenerife and Zante with as many as 83 flights a week scheduled.

The airline is to base six new Boeing 737-800s at Stansted giving a capacity of 800,000 seats from spring 2017.

An initial 50,000 seats have been released at £30 one-way to mark the introduction of the new flights.

The first services from Stansted are due to take off on March 30, 2017, to Alicante, Faro, Majorca and Lanzarote.

Jet2holidays head of trade sales, Alan Cross, said: “Today is a real milestone for Jet2holidays as it marks the day we bring our family friendly formula to travel agency partners in the south of England.

“Our agency partners are integral to the ongoing growth and success of our business, accounting for a third of sales, so agents should expect the highest level of support from our dedicated team. We are already experiencing great feedback and a very positive response to our proposition, which is incredibly exciting.

“Jet2holidays means that agents are able to offer something for everyone, with flexible stays and 3,750 hotels providing everything from great value holidays through to city breaks and a great choice of hotels from value to luxury.

“We are really looking forward to bringing our friendly low fares and great value package holidays to London Stansted airport and we are confident our proposition will make us a resounding success.”

Airport chief executive, Andrew Cowan, added: “We’re delighted that Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has chosen Stansted as its ninth UK base and the first in the south of England.

“The announcement is a real vote of confidence in Stansted and we look forward to building a strong working relationship with Jet2 to ensure this exciting new partnership is an overwhelming success.”
