EasyJet hit as Amsterdam-based pilots strike

EasyJet was today suffering from the latest in a series of strikes by Amsterdam-based pilots.

The fourth strike by members of the VNV union forced a number of flights to be cancelled.

This came as the budget carrier said it had only been given a few hours notice about the industrial action which started at 4am local time and is to run until 12 noon.

“Whilst we try to minimise the impact of the strike on our customers, unfortunately we will have to cancel some of our flights,” easyJet said.

“We have been working closely with the VNV to negotiate a collective labour agreement and are very keen to find a solution.

“Our latest offer represents a significant improvement compared to earlier proposals so it is disappointing that this unnecessary action will affect our passengers travelling through Amsterdam.

“We apologise for the inconvenience caused by the strike.”
