Cosmos Tours reports Paris and Nice growth despite terror attacks

Paris and Nice airports have seen the highest volume growth across Cosmos Tours’ European gateways for this summer.

The improved performance comes despite recent terrorist attacks in both French cities.

The operator’s chief executive Giles Hawke said: “Our touring and cruise products for this season through Paris have seen significant growth with a 119% increase year-on-year.

“Featuring both three and five star graded Seine cruises with Croisieurope and Avalon respectively means we have the market covered in terms of price point.”

He added: “We’ve seen a 66% increase year-on-year through Nice with Avalon’s ‘Provence and Burgundy’ river cruise driving volume this summer.

“Combining Monaco and Paris city stays with a seven-night luxury river cruise from Arles to Chalon-sur-Saone is proving popular.

“Competitive pricing and state-of-the-art luxury Suite Ships have attracted a ‘new to river cruise’ market as well as returning Avalon customers who are keen to experience a new region.

“We hope to continue this growth in France for 2017 with a newly launched upgrade offer so agents can book their customers an Avalon Panorama suite with the best views of Europe for the price of a deluxe stateroom, representing great savings.”

The Avalon Waterways’ free upgrade offer is worth up to £1,100 per person on 2017 European river cruises for bookings made by September 30.
