EasyJet holidays reveals tailor-made cycling programme

EasyJet holidays is gearing up for the cycling craze by introducing a range of dedicated two-wheeled European packages.

The series comprises tailor-made hotels for cyclists, with easy access to the best-known cycle routes in destinations.

Thirty five hotels have been handpicked across nine destinations from Spain and the Balearics and Canary Islands to Portugal and Andorra.

Hotel staff will be available for advice and information on local cycle routes, cycle lock-up and storage areas and bike repair facilities with technicians on-hand.

Holidaymakers can either take their own bike with them or hire one in resort. They can also source bicycles and scooters in advance in some destinations through easyJet’s partnership with Europcar which now extends to cover two wheeled transport.

An early booking offer sees one free bike carriage worth £70 for reservations made by June 20.

The announcement came as former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio took off from Gatwick to Toulouse for the start of a 1,861 kilometre charity ‘Dallaglio Cycle Slam’ supported by the airline.

Money raised will go to the Dallaglio Foundation and its RugbyWorks programme which helps 14-17 year olds who have been excluded from mainstream education into employment, education or training.

EasyJet holidays general manager Mandy Round said: “We have seen a growing trend in the uptake of cycling with more and more people taking bicycles on holiday with them or hiring them in destinations. Therefore we expect to see high demand for our new cycling holidays range.”
