Travellers should leave extra time for travel to and from Gatwick over the bank holiday weekend as the Gatwick Express shuts down for engineering works.

The non-stop service between Victoria station and Gatwick airport will be suspended as the works are carried out over three days from Saturday, the Evening Standard reports.

Instead, fast, direct services will run from London Blackfriars and London Bridge.

The disruption is due to Network Rail works between Clapham Junction and Selhurst.

According to Network Rail Gatwick Express services will recommence from 4am on Tuesday.
