Carnival Corporation has named Jan Swartz as group president of Holland America Group, responsible for Princess Cruises, Holland America Line, Seabourn and P&O Australia.

Swartz, who became group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia in 2016, will also oversee Holland America Princess Alaska Tours and inter-group operations in her new role.

The cruise giant also announced that Stein Kruse, formerly group chief executive of Holland America Group and Carnival UK, will take on a new role as senior advisor to chairman and chief executive Arnold Donald.

Donald said: “Jan is a highly respected executive and a role model. [She] is a champion of innovation and a proven leader.”

He added: “Stein’s knowledge and experience have been invaluable to the corporation during the course of his career. This new role provides us an opportunity to further leverage his expertise and skills, providing widespread benefits to the company.”

Prior to her appointment as group president of Princess Cruises and Carnival Australia, Swartz was president of Princess for three years, having spent more than 12 years with the line.

Kruse joined Holland America Line in 1999 as senior vice-president, fleet operations, and was president and chief executive of the line from 2004-2013 before becoming chief executive of Holland America Group.
