The former chief financial officer of Avon and brewing giant SABMiller has joined Thomas Cook Group as a non-executive director.

Jamie Wilson also served as a non-executive director of South African hotel and entertainment group, Tsogo Sun Holdings.

Thomas Cook chairman Frank Meysman, announcing the appointment ahead of today’s half year financial results, said: “I am delighted that we have attracted someone of Jamie’s calibre to our board.

“Jamie brings a strong track record of financial leadership along with experience of delivering complex change and efficiency programmes.

“I look forward to his contribution to our board at an important time for Thomas Cook.”

Wilson said: “I am excited to be joining the board of the strongest brand in travel in a period of change and challenge for the industry.

“I look forward to working with the team to drive the strategy to deliver profitable future growth.”
