First Perfect Day private island opened by Royal Caribbean

The first Perfect Day Island Collection destination has been opened by Royal Caribbean International in the Bahamas.

The $250 million CocoCay private island features a 135-foot-tall waterslide, helium balloon ride, a wave pool and a lagoon.

The island resort will be served by 11 of the line’s ships on itineraries from Florida and ports in the north-east of the US.

Company president and CEO Michael Bayley said: “Royal Caribbean is the proven leader when it comes to pushing the envelope in cruise ship design and the experiences offered at sea.

“With Perfect Day at CocoCay, we are so proud to bring our 50-year legacy of innovation ashore to transform an incredible island that now completely revolutionises private destinations in the vacation industry.

“It is exciting to see what we have dreamed up finally come to life; our guests truly are in for an experience unlike any other.”
