The Points Guy offers agents tips about air miles

A US website specialising in advice about air miles, loyalty schemes and other travel tips has launched in the UK.

Called The Points Guy, the UK is its first market beyond the US and the British version can be found at thepointsguy.co.uk

The website was founded in 2010 by Brian Kelly who developed the business from his blog about air miles.

It now has a team of more than 70 experts and writers, and claims to attract more than 10 million visitors each month, having doubled its readership over the past year.

In the UK, the director of content is Nicky Kelvin, who said the website can be useful for travel agents as well as consumers.

He said: “It can be a resource to learn about and understand loyalty programmes, and how this may/should influence a client’s booking decisions for hotels and especially flights.

“You can help clients understand which credit cards they may want to use and encourage booking on these cards to gain rewards when booking travel.”

Agents can also use the travel content to decide where clients can visit, said Kelvin.

He qualified as a solicitor with a US-based law firm in London, and then became a music lawyer for record label Virgin EMI.

His travel experience led him to set up masterclasses under the Miles Mogul brand, advising delegates about air miles and aviation.

He also developed his photography skills and worked as a photo journalist for a news agency in Israel.
