Intrepid unveils wellbeing tours in India, China and US

Intrepid Travel has expanded its range of active tours this year to meet increased demand for breaks promoting physical and mental wellbeing.

The tours are to India, China and the US and include hiking, cycling, canyoning and rafting, as well as kung fu and yoga.

The nine-day India: Body, Mind and Spirit tour, from £1,020, has departures in February, June and November. The wellness trip through India offers an alternative to the traditional resort-based wellness retreat, travelling south from Bangalore to Kochi and learning about Ayurveda at a family-run retreat in Wayanad and about yoga in Mysore, the home of ashtanga vinyasa yoga.

The seven-day China: Great Wall Hike, Bike and Kung Fu starts from £1,055 and offers a walk along a remote section of the wall, a bike ride through mountain villages and a kung fu lesson.

The new nine-day Colorado & Utah Active Adventure offers canyoning in Canyonlands National Park and an overnight rafting trip on the Colorado River.

Other trips offer the chance to hike, cycle and kayak in South China; and hike, cycle and raft in the Indian Himalayas.

Managing director Aaron Hocking said: “With increasing awareness around health and wellbeing, clients are looking for fun and different ways to stay healthy while they are on holiday. This is an opportunity for agents to target clients who want to maintain their active lifestyle while exploring incredible destinations.”
