Jet2 extends summer seasons in Ibiza and Menorca to meet demand

Jet2.com and Jet2holidays has extended the holiday season in Ibiza and Menorca after seeing strong demand for holidays outside of peak summer periods.

The announcement means that the airline and package holiday provider is putting on more than 80 additional flights across both destinations, representing an extra 30,000 seats.

The company has put additional flights on sale to Ibiza from five UK bases between late September and the end of October this year.

It is also extending the season from Birmingham, East Midlands, Glasgow, Manchester and Newcastle airports.

The summer season will also start earlier in Ibiza next year with April flights introduced to the island from four of its UK bases.

This means customer will be able to fly to the Balearic island with Jet2 for the Easter holidays for te first time.

The additional flights will operate twice-weekly from Birmingham, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and London Stansted.

Jet2 is also putting on additional flights to Menorca between September and November this year, with additional services from five UK bases.

The extra services are from Birmingham, East Midlands, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Newcastle Airports.

Jet2 said the extended seasons have been announced as demand for good value package holidays in both destinations continues to increase.

It said the move “is a clear sign that both islands are enjoying more popularity outside of peak summer months”.

Jet2 pledged to not just fill rooms during the peak season, but to work in partnership with hoteliers and the industry to achieve the best results outside of that period too.

Steve Heapy, chief executive of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays said: “Our commitment to providing award-winning flights and holidays means that we continue to attract more and more customers, and today’s announcement is yet more evidence of that.

“This news is a real boost for the tourism industry and economy in Menorca and Ibiza, and is living proof that we are not just working to fill hotels in the peak summer season but that we are working with our hotel and industry partners to achieve the best possible results in shoulder seasons too.

“We have become the UK’s second largest tour operator by working in collaboration with our partners in Ibiza and Menorca, and we will continue to stick to these principles so that we can continue flying happy holidaymakers to these fantastic destinations on a package holiday they can trust.”
