Nominations for 2018 AWTE Awards open

Nominations for the 2018 Association of Women Travel Executives (AWTE) Awards have been opened.

The annual awards, which celebrate the achievement of members over the last 12 months, cover four categories this year: the Business Impact Award, Company Award, AWTE Honorary Award and the AWTE Ambassador Award.

The AWTE Ambassador is a new award for the association, celebrating male colleagues in the travel industry who actively encourage and support female employees within their business.

Nominees for the Business Impact Award will be females in the travel, tourism and hospitality sectors who has shown great innovation or made a major impact in their role.

The Honorary Award is for members who have contributed significantly to the association or the travel industry specifically over the past 12 months.

And the Company Award celebrates firms in the travel industry that have shown support and commitment to equality on their board and within their management structure.

Members can nominate themselves, colleagues, companies or someone they admire by July 18.

Finalists will be selected by a panel of travel industry judges from the nominations put forward and industry professionals can vote for who they’d like to win.

Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at The Mayfair Hotel, London on September 10 in an event sponsored by The Travel Network Group.

Chair Sarah Clayton-Turner said: “This year’s AWTE awards is going to be bigger and better than ever.  I’m delighted that we’ve got some amazing judges on board and that we are also able to recognise our male colleagues in the industry who go a long way to develop women in their businesses.  We have some amazing talent in our businesses and so we look forward to seeing some fantastic nominations and celebrating with them at the Mayfair hotel on September 10.”

The AWTE is also seeking nominations for five names to add to its list of influential women in the travel industry, which began with 60 names in 2014 to mark the associations 60th anniversary.

The AWTE Benevolent will also present three AWTE members with an Enterprise Gift – one for £1,000 and two for £500 – to be used for professional development, marketing, PR or social media skills. Members must have registered with the AWTE for at least a year to apply.
