Clia creates new digital role for former John Lewis social media manager

Cruise association Clia has recruited a former John Lewis senior social media manager in a newly-created digital role.

Ross Walker joins as global digital and social strategy director after a decade working in the digital marketing sector across a range of brands ranging from Adidas to British Airways.

He is based at Clia’s London office reporting to strategic communications senior vice president Megan King.

Walker’s arrival coincides with the appointment of travel expert Louise Prior as public relations director overseeing PR strategy in the UK and Europe.

King said: “The cruise industry is a leader in sustainable travel and tourism. We have a great story to tell.

“Building an interdisciplinary, transglobal communications team to tell that story has been a priority for me in 2018.

The addition of Ross and Louise relly brings this to life. They are top-notch talent in their disciplines who recognise the opportunity of being part of a growing, dynamic industry.”

UK and Ireland director Andy Harmer added: “Clia continues to invest in new talent to help ensure that our messaging and communications can cut through at an incredible time for our industry.”

Clia is also recruiting for a PR manager to work alongside Prior and Harmer.
