More than 80 travel agencies and 35 individual agents are in the running to win the most prestigious accolades in the travel trade, following the announcement of the shortlists for the 2018 Travel Weekly Agent Achievement Awards.

Hundreds of votes and entries were received after suppliers were asked to recognise their top agencies across the UK and Northern Ireland, and agents were invited to nominate themselves for individual and business excellence awards.

The UK’s largest travel agent awards night will take place at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel in London on July 12, with more than 850 guests in attendance.

The event is supported by a range of suppliers and agency groups, including headline sponsors Avis, G Adventures, Gold Medal/Travel 2, Insight Vacations, NCL and U by Uniworld.

Lucy Huxley, editor-in-chief of Travel Weekly Group, said: “Once again, we were blown away by the quality of the submissions, and these entries and the volume of votes cast by the UK’s leading suppliers, is testament to the place the AAAs holds for the trade.

“The Agent Achievement Awards is a highlight of the travel calendar, and is a fantastic focal point for our year-round efforts to celebrate the amazing agents and agencies who continue to innovate and offer outstanding service.”

In addition to the regional and national awards, the business excellence awards will recognise outstanding agency websites, marketing and use of social media.

The best luxury agents and agencies will also be honoured in the Aspire Awards, sponsored by Celebrity Cruises, while the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award will honour lasting achievement in the trade.
