Surge in winter arrivals to Palma de Mallorca

Palma de Mallorca Tourism is celebrating a surge in winter visitors to the Balearic Island.

Latest figures from the Spanish Airports Authority (AENA) registered a 16.3% increase in visitor numbers in November and an 11.7% rise in December.

The tourist board’s strategy was to increase overall travel to the island in the winter months and says the figures show a “growing appetite” for off-season travel.

A number of new Palma hotels are in the pipeline.

Fourteen-bedroom Hotel Gloria Sant Jaume opened in the city’s old town as has boutique 68-room Hotel Es Princep.

Can Bordoy House and Garden is set to open in central Palma in the summer while Protur Naisa Hotel, Palma is due to be ready for autumn 2018 adding a further 100 rooms.
