Lincolnshire Co-op opens modern 2,500ft store

Lincolnshire Co-op  has moved one of its Lincoln branches to bigger premises on the same retail park as part of a £300,000 investment.

The new purpose-built 2,500 square foot shop, which is 200 foot bigger than its existing branch on the Tritton Road retail park and is its largest branch, opened on Friday (March 9) next to M&S’ foodhall.

The eight-desk shop boasts a modern design which includes a ceiling-mounted world map and back-lit images on the walls, a cruise lounge, a bureau de change, and two seating areas.

All staff have moved across from the existing branch but there is space for the shop to expand its workforce in future.

Lincolnshire Co-op’s Travel Group Manager Wayne Dennett said: “We believe the branch’s design is different to anything else in Lincolnshire at the moment.”

An official opening is to be held on March 19.

Lincolnshire Co-op  last opened a new branch in Retford in December, which created  four new jobs, and says it is always “on the look-out” for opportunities to grow its shop network further.

It has another store in Lincoln, in the Carlton Centre.
