EasyJet reports rise in January passenger numbers

EasyJet has posted its January passenger numbers, showing a 8.7% increase year on year.

The budget airline carried 5,159,860 passengers last month, up from 4,745,630 in January 2017.

Its load factor also improved by 2.2%, raising from 86.2% to 88.4%.

Passenger numbers, rolling for the last 12 months, were up 9.5% to 82,048,573 from 74,921,296 with an increased load factor of 93.2%, up from 91.5%.

EasyJet says its passenger numbers are in line with expectations, and that it will release further details in its half year results on May 15.
