Second UK Porto route introduced by TAP Air Portugal

A second route from the UK to Porto is being introduced in the spring by TAP Air Portugal.

Flights will start from London City airport from March 25 in addition to an existing service from Gatwick.

Porto will be the airline’s second destination served from the London Docklands airport following a Lisbon service established in October. Fares start at £71 one-way including taxes.

The expansion showcases the carrier’s commitment to working with the airport, located in the city’s financial centre, according to the carrier.

Six flights a week will operate from London City to Porto as part of 2018 expansion by TAP which will see 41 weekly services added, including Porto connections to Barcelona, Milan and a daily connection to Ponta Delgada on São Miguel Island, the capital of the Azores.

The carrier is boosting its long-haul operations from June 1 with four more flights a week from Lisbon to São Paulo, one more to Brasilia and Belo Horizonte in Brazil, and to Toronto.

Lisbon will also gain a service to Florence with ten flights a week.

“The reinforcements of TAP’s network for 2018 highlight the airline’s ongoing strategic focus on the UK market, and its commitment to offering travellers an abundance of choice, whether Portugal is their stop of choice or if they are maximising TAP’s extensive network to travel further afield,” a spokeswoman said.
