New Saga ship Spirit of Discovery goes on general sale

Saga Cruises first new boutique small ship Spirit of Discovery has gone on general sale after a period of the line taking advanced registrations.

Thousands of people who registered an interest with Saga and paid a £90 refundable deposit have all been contacted and booked cruises.

Spirit of Discovery is now available to book online, by telephone or through a range of travel agents, according to Saga Cruises.

Agents are being offered £100 in shopping vouchers for every ocean cruise booked in October and £20 for every Saga Travel holiday or river cruise.

Every Spirit of Discovery booking made will be entered into a weekly prize draw to win a luxury boutique hotel break.

Prices lead in at £765 per person for a four-night  ‘Dance to France’ itinerary departing from Dover on October 3, 2019, to Cherbourg, St Malo and Le Havre.

The 999-passenger ship’s maiden cruise around Britain from Dover in July 2019 is already sold out.

Other itineraries include a 35-night cruise from Southampton to spend Christmas 2019 in New York, the Norwegian fjords, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean and Canary Islands.

Saga Cruises chief executive Robin Shaw said: “To date almost 7,000 passengers, who had pre-registered to sail on her have already gone on to book one of the new itineraries which is a phenomenal display of loyalty and interest in Saga Cruises.”
