First Qatar Airways Doha-Dublin aircraft lands

The first Qatar Airways daily flight from Doha to Dublin landed yesterday despite turmoil in the Gulf state after diplomatic ties were severed by several neighboring countries.

The airline used a new generation Airbus A350 on the inaugural service, the first time a commercial passenger Airbus A350 aircraft has landed in Ireland.

However, Qatar Airways will operate the Dublin service with a Boeing 787 Dreamliner in a two-class configuration including 22 seats in business class and 232 economy seats.

Following the Dublin launch, Qatar Airways will be adding flights to other destinations to its network this year and in 2018, including Abidjan, Ivory Coast; Accra, Ghana; Canberra, Australia; Chiang Mai, Thailand; Chittagong, Bangladesh; Mombasa, Kenya and Utapao, Thailand.

Passengers using the flights from Dublin can connect to more than 150 destinations via the carrier’s Doha hub.

Qatar Airways has recently introduced the +Qatar campaign in partnership with Qatar Tourism Authority, giving Irish passengers the chance to book a free hotel stay in Doha as well as obtaining a complimentary transit visa.

Qatar Airways chief executive Akbar Al Baker said: “The launch of our new service to Dublin is an important milestone for Qatar Airways.

“The new service will connect the Irish people with more destinations globally and provide them the opportunity to experience our five-star service. We look forward to welcoming our new passengers on board and to connecting them to Doha and beyond.”
