Blue Air set to open new base at Liverpool John Lennon

Romanian low cost carrier Blue Air is to officially open a new base at Liverpool John Lennon airport on Friday.

The airline is to station a 189-seat Boeing 737-800 at the Merseyside airport for the summer season.

This will allow the opening of new routes to Rome, Milan, Hamburg and Alicante.

The expansion has created up to 35 new jobs at the airport.

A new livery will be unveiled following a consumer competition to design a new look for the Liverpool-based aircraft.
