Voting opens for 2017 Silver Travel Awards

Voting has opened for the 2017 Silver Travel Awards which will recognise the travel companies and destinations that best serve the over-50s market.

The third annual awards will be held on June 8 at Madame Tussauds in London and hosted by Classic FM presenter, Aled Jones.

The awards will feature 17 travel categories voted exclusively by consumers, including best cruise lines, best tour operators, best airline and best destination.

Managing director of Silver Travel Advisor, Debbie Marshall said: “The over 50s have a growing passion for travel, and the majority have the time, resources and good health to make continuing to explore the world a reality.

“These awards give them the opportunity to commend the companies which truly understand the needs of the mature traveller, and best deliver for them on the ground, in the air and on the water.

“While the travel industry has a plethora of events, there is no other awards ceremony that independently celebrates the best for the mature traveller.

“The Silver Travel Awards are voted for by consumers and as such they represent a very clear indication of which companies are getting things right.”

The awards are supported by headline sponsor Saga Holidays, with The Daily Mail and The Mail on Sunday as a consumer media sponsor for the first time.

Saga Holidays is offering a 13-night Saga Cruise for two to the Canary Islands in a prize draw for one lucky 50 plus voter and 40 silver travellers will also be invited to attend the awards.

Classic FM is sponsoring a special iconic travel company award in recognition of its own 25th anniversary this year.

Further sponsors include Wendy Wu, Solos Travel and Shearings.

A full list of the categories is available on the website and voting is open now until April 30.
