Singapore Airlines is increasing its flight frequencies to Singapore from Manchester and Gatwick.
The Manchester services will increase from five times a week to daily from July 13, while the Gatwick flights will grow from 10 a week to twice daily from October 25.
The services from both airports use Airbus A350-900 long-haul aircraft, configured with 253 seats (42 in Business Class, 24 in Premium Economy Class and 187 in Economy Class).
Mohamed Rafi Mar, general manager for the UK and Ireland at Singapore Airlines, said: “Singapore Airlines continues to offer customers more choice and connectivity to Singapore than any other carrier in the UK.
“With up to 49 flights a week from Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester, plus seamless onward connections across our global network via the award-winning Singapore Changi Airport, customers can look forward to world-class service, gourmet dining and exciting in-flight entertainment.”
Manchester Airport managing director Chris Woodroofe said it was “so exciting” that Singapore Airlines would start operating a daily service.
He added: “Here at Manchester Airport, we are proud to connect the north to the world and our relationship with Singapore Airlines – which has been going strong for 40 years – plays a key part in that, opening up one of the planet’s most exciting destinations to people in our region.”
Jonny Macneal, head of aviation development at Gatwick, said: “The increase to double‑daily flights reflects strong demand on the Gatwick–Singapore route and highlights the importance of this service for both business and leisure passengers.
“We look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Singapore Airlines and welcome this significant capacity development which provides enhanced connectivity for our passengers.”
