Icy discovery

With HX, no two days in Antarctica are the same. As morning breaks, escorted landings offer a wealth of opportunities for spotting wildlife, ranging from fur seals and their pups learning to swim to gentoo penguins nesting along steep hillsides.

Whether viewed from the deck or experienced up close from a small expedition boat, clients may encounter humpback whales feeding in krill-filled waters, minke whales weaving through pack ice and, with a bit of luck, orcas jumping through the water. For the more adventurous client, optional add-ons include kayaking, snowshoeing across the tundra and even overnight camping under a clear, star-studded sky. HX’s daily field activities are complemented by time in their state-of-the-art Science Centre. Clients can attend expert-led lectures or take part in hands-on Citizen Science lab work, analysing seawater and biological samples and helping collect research data.
