Three-branch Weir Travel to cease trading

Three-branch Northern Irish travel agency Weir Travel is preparing to cease trading.

Barrhead Travel’s Belfast branch is due to step in to service ongoing bookings, the Glasgow-headquartered agency said.

Weir Travel has branches in Coleraine, Ballymena and Limavady and has traded for nine years. All three branches will close their doors.

A Barrhead Travel spokeswoman said: “Weir Travel, based in Northern Ireland is preparing to cease trading.

“After nine years of trade, the travel company will close its doors in all three locations: Coleraine, Ballymena and Limavady.

“All bookings are financially protected under Abta and Atol licences, providing protection to all outstanding customer bookings.

“Barrhead Travel in Belfast will step in to service ongoing bookings, providing a seamless experience for the customer.”

As of September 2021, Barrhead Travel had 85 branches, including 47 Barrhead Travel shops and 38 managed service travel partners.
