Silversea to ease Covid protocols from next week

All passengers will be allowed to travel on Silversea’s ships regardless of their vaccination status from next week.

The line has also removed all testing requirements for fully-jabbed passengers, but unvaccinated passengers must provide proof of a negative Covid test within 72 hours of embarkation.

Speaking last month, the line’s UK and Ireland managing director Peter Shanks said the line would continue with its “cautious” Covid approach because passengers liked the fact everybody was inoculated on board.

However, the line has today confirmed it will ease Covid protocols from September 5 in a move that would mirror “many land-based travel options” – but testing and vaccination requirements may differ for certain destinations based on local regulations, including Australia, Canada and Greece.

Silversea said: “Guests should always check local Covid regulations prior to booking a voyage with Silversea.

“Silversea will advise booked guests and their travel advisors of any relevant local Covi requirements within 30 days prior to sailing.”

Sister lines Royal Caribbean International and Celebrity Cruises recently announced they would also relax Covid protocols from September 5.
