Jet2 has moved to reassure the trade and its customers by confirming a zero-surcharge policy on all booked flights and holidays.
The airline said it has made its “industry leading” pledge despite a global spike in aviation fuel costs in order to provide assurance that the amount stated at the time of booking is the price the customer will pay.
The policy applies to all bookings across every distribution channel – including independent travel agents – with a spokesperson confirming the commitment is “indefinite”.
The guarantee excludes tourist taxes, which remain payable in resort directly to the accommodation provider.
Jet2 chief executive Steve Heapy said: “Holidaymakers should have every right to book their hard-earned break in the sun, without worrying about being hit with additional costs, and they can have that complete assurance when they book a flight or holiday with Jet2.
“As a result of today’s announcement, customers booking with Jet2 know that they are locking in their price without additional cost surprises later and we strongly believe that is the right thing to do by them.
“Ahead of a busy summer this is yet more evidence of why, on top of our incredible holidays and award-winning customer service, nothing beats a Jet2holiday.”
The move comes as jet fuel prices have doubled following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
The disruption to production and transport has forced carriers worldwide – including Lufthansa, Air France-KLM, and Emirates – to introduce emergency surcharges or cost-cutting measures.
