Marella Cruises extends cancellations into summer

Marella Cruises is the latest line to extend the cancellation of sailings into the summer.

The latest pause in operations by the four-ship company runs up until June 30.

The Tui UK brand cited “ongoing uncertainty” around travel restrictions for the decision.

“We’re proactively contacting impacted customers from 11th March to discuss their options, which will include amending to another holiday for free with an incentive or cancelling and receiving a full refund,” the operator said.

The move follows P&O Cruises introducing UK sailings to replace cruises on Arcadia, Aurora, Azura and Ventura which have been cancelled until the end of August and on Britannia and Iona until the end of September.

Cunard yesterday cancelled departures by flagship Queen Mary 2 until November 12 together with Queen Elizabeth’s summer fly-cruise season and other departures until October 11. Scheduled sailings by Queen Victoria were cancelled until August 27.

However, the line is to deploy Queen Elizabeth on UK departures from Southampton this summer.

Royal Caribbean Group also pushed back the restart of its brands’ cruises to at least May 31.
