Jet2.com is to resume ski flights to Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble from January 22 following news France is to relax its restrictions.
Meanwhile, the airline, and its in-house tour operator Jet2CityBreaks have announced flights and city breaks to Paris will restart from February 11.
The move was prompted by this morning’s announcement from the French tourism minister that the country will relax its entry conditions which have banned most travellers from the UK since mid-December, from tomorrow (January 14).
The airline and operator welcomed the news France will reopen its borders to vaccinated travellers and reported an immediate surge in searches and bookings for ski flights.
Chief executive Steve Heapy said: “This is the positive news that skiers and snowboarders have been looking forward to, and the spike in bookings for ski flights has been both sharp and immediate.
“The snow conditions in the French Alps are said to be excellent, meaning our customers are jumping at the chance to get back on the slopes.
“We know how much our customers want to get back to the French Alps and we are very pleased to be flying them there again from next weekend onwards. This is yet more great news for the travel industry and further reinforces our already strong belief that 2022 is a year to look forward to with real confidence.”
Jet2.com is offering 10% off all ski flights as it resumes routes to Lyon, Chambery and Grenoble on January 22.
The announcement will also mean clients can head to the French Alps via Geneva. The company is already operating ski flights to Salzburg, Turin, Innsbruck and Barcelona (for Andorra).
Chambery flights are on sale from five UK bases: Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds Bradford, Manchester and Stansted. They offer access to the resorts Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix, La Plagne and Val d’Isère.
Grenoble flights are offered out of Birmingham, Stansted, Manchester and Newcastle, to resorts including Morzine, Chamonix, Chamrousse, Les Deux Alpes, Alpe d’Huez and Avoriaz.
Lyon flights depart from Manchester, offering access to Tignes, Les Arcs and Alpe d’Huez.
Jet2 is also offering £50 off per person on all city breaks booked through Jet2CityBreaks made by February 7. The promotion applies to all packages on sale for this winter, winter 2022-2023, and summer 2023.
