P&O Cruises has changed its alcohol allowance for embarking passengers.
Previously, adult passengers were permitted to take one litre of wine, champagne, beer, spirits or liqueur on board when they embarked the ship.
However, from May 7, the line has removed beer, spirits or liqueur from the list of permitted drinks, meaning passengers may only take one litre of wine or champagne on board.
Asked why the change has been made, a spokesperson said it is to align with its Health, Environment, Safety and Security guidelines.
P&O Cruises said: “Effective May 7, 2024, each guest aged 18 years and older (21 years and older in the US ports) are permitted to bring up to one litre of wine or champagne onboard as they embark the ship for the first time.
“We regularly review our policies in line with the cruise industry. We are making the change to adhere more closely to our Health, Environment, Safety and Security guidelines around our responsibility to serve alcohol.”
