InteleTravel ‘addresses’ recruit’s Atol error

InteleTravel has “addressed” an agent posting the Atol logo on their website despite the group not having a licence for the package holiday protection scheme.

The homeworking group, which was granted Abta membership last year and recently reported it has more than 10,500 recruits in the UK, said the incident, relating to a trip with Explore, was an “isolated error”.

James Ferrara, president of the company, confirmed to Travel Weekly last month that InteleTravel was in the process of applying for an Atol licence as it plans to create packages for its recruits to sell.

A spokesman for InteleTravel said: “This isolated error by one agent has been addressed and our relationship with Explore remains unaffected. We continue to deliver an excellent training and educational programme to all agents.”

Explore’s head of global sales Ben Ittensohn said the operator had become aware of one agent doing using the Atol logo incorrectly, “asked InteleTravel to investigate” and that it was “removed immediately”.

Agents are allowed to state when package holidays they sell are Atol protected by an Atol holder, but cannot claim to be protected under another company’s Atol.
