More than 500 applications for pre-registration have been logged ahead of Aurora Expeditions putting 2022 global sailings on sale on October 27.

More than 80% are for new bookings with interest ranging from polar expeditions to new voyages to the Russian Far East, Alaska and the North West Passage.

The Australian expedition line attributed the interest to trade partners responding to pent-up demand.

The company is to run two trade webinars on October 6 and 7 hosted by UK business development manager Jay Turner to highlight new itineraries and the company’s second purpose-built vessel Sylvia Earle, on track for October 2021.

The first 100 agents to register and attend will receive a free Starbucks coffee to enjoy after the webinar.

UK and Europe sales director Craig Upshall said: “In order to support trade partners and their customers in making an informed decision about voyaging with Aurora Expeditions, we have created a series of webinars to preview some of our new voyages and share updates on new health and safety protocols and new deposit protection programme so that clients feel that they can book with confidence.”

Global head of marketing Victoria Primrose said: “Building on the success of our new ship the Greg Mortimer during its maiden season – Antarctica 2019-20 – and with the upcoming delivery of our second purpose-built expedition ship, the Sylvia Earle, in just over 12 months, demand is still strong for expeditions to incredible and remote locations.

“Travelling with experts who know, understand and respect the world’s most remote and isolated locations is proving to be a huge consideration with new enquirers.

“Alaska, The North West Passage and The Russian Far East, have certainly captured the interest of those patiently waiting to explore the world.”
