Wendy Wu Tours expands 2021-22 long-haul range

Wendy Wu Tours has expanded its long-haul travel offering for 2021-2022.

The operator, which specialises in trips to Asia, said it has been ‘exceptional demand’ for long-haul travel from next year after it introduced its Travel with Confidence initiative six weeks ago.

It has introduced new programmes in Central Asia, the Middle East, South America and Antarctica, as well as a new cruise and beach programme in Vietnam – which is on both government ‘safe lists’ meaning it is exempt from the FCDO blanket travel ban and travellers do not have to quarantine on return to the UK.

Wendy Wu Tours now offers 150 holidays including its Japan, Southeast Asia, India and China programmes.

The operator also reported an “unprecedented demand” for solo travel, with an increase of more than 68% year on year. It is launching a new series of Solo Tours across its flagship holidays, all of which have smaller group sizes, VIP airport chauffeur service and airport lounge access.

To stimulate bookings, the operator is offering a free second flights for customers booking 2021 and 2022 trips to Asia and South America – or 50% off the air fare for solo bookers. It is also offering a range of inclusive airline upgrades as part of the price. Its Flexible Booking Guarantee means holidays can be booked with a £99 deposit, and allows free amendments and the final balance payment at six weeks before departure.

John Warr, global sales director, said: “A recent survey of our customers cited ‘safety’ as their number one travel concern. The desire for travel is strong, in fact Japan, Vietnam and Central Asia, came out as the top ‘must see’ destinations for 2021 and beyond, however the safety element is a priority.

“We took all of these concerns on-board and, over the last six months, have been in consultation with our team, guides, ground handlers as well as local overseas governments, and have developed a pioneering and fully comprehensive set of COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, in line with UNWTO, WTTC and WHO regulations, which are by far the most comprehensive in the industry.”

Warr added: “We know how difficult this time has been for everyone and its impact on travel plans which is why we’ve taken the unprecedented decision to go all out and give our customers a range of unique offers.”
