Jet2holidays extends suspensions for Canaries and Croatia

Jet2holidays has extended the suspension of its flights and holiday programme to the Canary Islands and Croatia.

The operator extended its suspension to mainland Spain and the Balearic Islands until August 29 on Thursday and has now extended its suspension to the Canary Islands until the same date.

It aims to restart flights on August 30 “subject to its new Summer 2020 flying programme” if restrictions are lifted.

All holidays to Croatia departing up to August 30 have automatically been cancelled, with flights due to recommence on August 31.

The Foreign Office currently advises against all but essential travel to the whole of Spain, and those returning from the country are asked to quarantine for 14 days.

There have been strong calls from the industry to introduce regional travel corridors to allow for quarantine-free travel to areas within countries that pose less of a risk of visitors contracting Covid-19.

On Friday, transport secretary Grant Shapps confirmed a regional approach was being considered, but said he did not want to offer “false hope” that changes to the current approach would be imminent.
