Antigua and Barbuda sends ‘love letter’ to agents

Agents are being urged to write a “love letter” to Caribbean country Antigua and Barbuda as its tourist board launches a promotion to show support for the industry during the Covid-19 crisis.

The tourism body is offering a top prize of £100 Love2shop voucher, plus runners-up prizes of one £50 and one £25 shopping voucher, as part of a prize draw for agents who participate in the campaign.

Cherrie Osborne, director of Tourism UK & Europe for the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, said: “During this unprecedented time, we are all feeling the impact that the tourism industry is facing. The Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority has always had a fantastic relationship with agents and with this in mind, we wanted to share the love with a letter from our islands.

“We’d love to hear from agents on what they miss most about our twin-island nation, be it the food, the beaches or the Caribbean sunshine. While absence might make the heart grow fonder, we look forward to working together again and, once restrictions are finally lifted, welcoming you back to the islands.”

The tourist board has penned its own tongue-in-cheek message to UK agents, published in Travel Weekly, saying: “We love when you visit and we’re counting down the days till we meet again.”

Travel agents – including those currently on furlough – are invited to write back in 50 words or fewer by the closing date of May 30 for their chance to be entered into the prize draw.
