Virgin Holidays to rebrand and close 15% of retail stores

Virgin Holidays has announced it will rebrand and close 15% of its retail estate this year.

Virgin Holidays will become Virgin Atlantic Holidays and will focus on its digital distribution and concessions in Next shops.

Currently Virgin operates 57 retail stores – 21 standalone stores and 36 Next concessions, but in a statement released today highlighting the restructure and resizing of Virgin, it was confirmed that 15% of the Virgin Holidays standalone retail estate would close this year.

It isn’t yet known how many retail jobs are affected by the restructure of the brand, however a spokeswoman confirmed that that across both Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays a total of 3,150 jobs were at risk.

It comes as Virgin Atlantic announced it could make more than 3,000 employees redundant as it battles to survive the coronavirus crisis.
