Wizz Air adds summer sun routes from June

Wizz Air is introducing a limited number of summer sun routes from Luton airport as it launches a “new era of sanitized travel”.

The low cost carrier’s UK subsidiary plans flights to Corfu, Heraklion, Rhodes, Zakynthos and Faro from June with Marrakesh added in October.

The expansion follows the resumption of flights to various eastern European destinations last weekend.

Passengers and cabin crew will be required to wear facemasks while sanitizing wipes will be handed out.

Travellers will be requested to follow physical distancing measures introduced by local health authorities and encouraged to make all purchases in advance online prior to minimise physical contact at the airport.

Faro will be served four times a week from June 16; Zakynthos twice a week from July 1; Heraklion three times a week from July 2; Corfu twice a week from July 3 and Rhodes twice a week from July 4.

Marrakesh will operate four time a week from October 25.

Fares lead-in at £25.99 one-way.

Wizz Air UK managing director Owain Jones said: “Although travel is currently restricted by government regulations, we are planning for the easing of restrictions as the situation improves and our customers are able to start travelling again.

“The Wizz team is excited that our network from London Luton will continue to grow to include many new summer and winter sun destinations and our new sanitizing protocols will give our customers the confidence that they can safely rely on Wizz Air’s ultra-low-cost fares to visit these new and exciting destinations on-board Europe’s greenest fleet.

“As always, our primary concern is the health, safety and well-being of our passengers and crew, and our enhanced protective measures will ensure the most sanitary conditions possible.”
