Hays Travel and Travel Counsellors have been named among the UK’s best 100 companies to work for.

They feature 88th and 89th on the list published by the Sunday Times.

The Landmark London Hotel topped companies from the travel and hospitality sector on the 2020 table by taking fourth position overall.

Self-catering lodge operator Verdant Leisure takes 13th place, the Royal Lancaster London hotel in 50th and Sykes Holiday Cottages in 68th position.

The results are based on a survey of staff and how they perceive their work environment.

The list is published ahead of Best Companies Day on February 28.

Hays Travel head of human resources, Helen Liddle (pictured right), said: “Our people are the drivers of the business and this recognition shows that they are both motivated and highly engaged.

“We work hard to make happy, healthy environments for our people to work in and we value our employees’ feedback, investing in their ideas to make the workplace an even better place to be.

“This is a particularly remarkable achievement for the company this year, due to the significant growth we’ve experienced since taking over the Thomas Cook retail portfolio in October 2019.

“We’re looking forward to joining together to celebrate this year’s success on Best Companies Day, when we will be showing our teams how proud we are of them and how much they are appreciated.”

Travel Counsellors - Best Companies

Travel Counsellors chief executive Steve Byrne said: “We’re delighted to be listed in the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For 2020, achieving a two-star accreditation thanks to the feedback provided by our support teams.

“This accolade is a credit to the brilliant people who support our corporate and leisure travel counsellors to run their businesses in the best ways possible, and show care to their customers every single day.

“This is an important milestone as we continue to invest in developing and supporting the talent we have across the Travel Counsellors community over the next 12 months and beyond.”

Verdant Leisure commercial director, Bev Dixon, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have placed 13th in the Best Companies to Work for in the UK, but most of all we’re thrilled to receive such positive feedback from our team.”

“Everyone at Verdant Leisure strives to deliver an amazing experience for our guests every day, and this simply wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of our team.

“We offer opportunities for training and development to anyone who wants to learn and love to see our team members flourish and progress.”
