Wendy Wu Tours has begun selling group holidays in North America and Europe, with a focus on tailor-made itineraries.

Entry into the new markets has been spearheaded by head of group sales and partnerships Glen Thomas (pictured), who joined the Asia specialist in May 2019.

Sample itineraries will be available, but groups can make specific requests and tours can be tailor-made.

Thomas, who spent 10 years heading Travelsphere’s groups sales division, said the Canadian and US west coasts had proven popular during the soft launch. And an initial focus on Malta and Croatia will be expanded across other destinations in Europe, he added.

“We need to get under the skin of what they want so we can tailor the holiday to their likes and where they want to go. I’ve travelled extensively in North America so I know a lot of places, and what to do there.”

Thomas said he can visit agencies to discuss tours with agents and customers to ensure it fits their needs.

“Agents are expected to be specialists in everywhere in the world, which is a big ask,” said Thomas.

“They won’t necessarily have experience of booking groups, so that’s where we can help.

“Going to agencies and giving presentations for our trade partners works really well.”

The expansion into North America and Europe is in addition to Wendy Wu Tours’ existing groups offering across Asia and in Latin America.
