Teletext gears up for analogue switch-off

Teletext Holidays has confirmed its plans to go digital only from January saying it will be ramping up the promotion of its Freeview 101 television channel.

To raise the profile of the service a Freeview box giveaway has been launched with more than 500 up for grabs between now and the analogue switch off on December 31.

Mark Bloxham, marketing director, Teletext Holidays said: “We’ve done a big piece of research to understand more about our analogue users.

“A large chunk still don’t know the service is switching off at the end of the year so we need to get the message out about our other services.

“We want customers to stay with us as we move to being a digital-only business from January 1. It’s vital for us to understand what they know about our other services so we know where to direct them.

“We’ll be steering people to find us on Freeview 101 and online with messages on all our online and offline marketing activity.”

The Teletext research found that 80% of analogue users will either move to the Freeview service or the website to find deals.

Bloxham added: “The next few months will see a blitz on messages to make it clear where customers who are still loyal to analogue can find us.”

Teletext Holidays has also recruited Kay Bustin as head of online product as it gears up for a relaunch of the brand early in the new year. Bustin currently handles the Far East and Caribbean regions for Cara Hotel Marketing, and is a former lastminute.com worldwide product manager.

The company is investing in a multi-million brand advertising campaign this year alongside a number of exciting new digital innovations.
