Trafalgar donates 10,000 trees for Australia reforestation scheme

Trafalgar is donating 10,000 trees over the festive period to support the regeneration of land devastated by fires across the eastern seaboard of Australia.

For the past five years, in lieu of Christmas gifts, the escorted tour operator has made annual contributions as a ‘thank you’ for the support it has received from staff, partners and guests.

Gavin Tollman, Trafalgar’s chief executive, said: “Reforestation has been a core part of our business for a number of years with multiple initiatives alongside our longstanding partner One Tree Planted – including planting a tree for every customer that chooses to travel paper-free, with 222 acres of trees being planted so far across northern California and Tanzania.

“With the fires that have devastated Australia in recent weeks, we couldn’t think of a better destination and cause to support this festive season, and this is our way of saying thanks to our valued trade partners and customers, as simply by supporting Trafalgar, you are doing your part too.”

He said the donation is in keeping with the company’s JoinTrafalgar ethos and core pillars of people; places and wildlife; and the planet.

JoinTrafalgar is a commitment to encourage customers to join the company on its mission to ‘Make Travel Matter’, in partnership with organisations around the world.

More than 80% of guests visit JoinTrafalgar initiatives which make a positive impact across the three pillars.

Tollman added: “Australia needs our support now more than ever. We thank our valued agent partners and loyal customers for helping us to continue to make travel matter, supporting Australia this festive season.”
