Wendy Wu Tours hosts five agents on Japan fam

Five agents from Advantage Travel Centres have returned from a week-long fam trip in Japan, organised by Wendy Wu Tours.

The agents won their place on the escorted trip by booking a tour with the Asia specialist between February 1 and April 20.

They began in the capital, Tokyo, visiting the Tokyo Skytree tower for views over the city; the Sensoji Temple; and the Hamarikyu Garden.

Next on the itinerary was a cruise on Lake Ashi and a trip on the Komagatake cable car for views of Mount Fuji before heading to Hakone.

The agents travelled to Kyoto by bullet train and visited the Fushimi Inari Shrine; Kinkakuji Temple (Golden Pavilion); and Ryoanji Temple.

They also learnt about the traditional Japanese handicraft of calligraphy and the art of a tea ceremony.

Zoe Franklin, Travel Club Elite sales manager, said: “The tour was true ‘experiential travel’, giving us a great overview of Japan, its culture and traditions and the chance to meet some of the most polite, respectful and endearing people – a must-visit destination.

“The experience [on the Bullet Train] didn’t disappoint as I sped along at over 200 mph catching sight of towns and villages from my aircraft-style seat.

“I was shocked to feel so emotional at the tea ceremony, learning about this tradition and to hear the full extent of the harmony and respect it delivers.”
